Film Outfits That Inspire
Here comes another confession! One of the things I am known to do throughout a movie is comment on the fashion... and by comment I mean carry on about how much I would kill to have certain characters wardrobes. I'm sure I am not the only one who often feels the need channel a fictional character straight off the film reel in what I wear... can I? I am going to go through and highlight just a few of my favourite film wardrobes that any fashion enthusiast, yes... you, would die for!
Rear Window (1954)
One of my favourites from Alfred Hitchcock. I couldn't help but fall in love with Grace Kelly's on screen wardrobe which consisted of sumptuous fabrics classic 50's designs. With a timeless frock that flatters your figure along with a delicate pearl necklace you will be on your way to having your own personal version of this films high couture wardrobe.
Clueless (1995)
I remember watching this film as a kid and was left wishing I was Cher, played by Alicia Silverstone, because she had a computer system that would let her scroll through and plan her outfits. If only my wardrobe had those functions, it would make life so much easier... but when it comes to achieving Cher's on screen look, it's is only a few key items away. This movie is one of the big reasons why I am in love with plaid patterns. The cute little skirts paired up with knee highs is always the key for a preppy sophisticated look with a hint of 90's grunge.
The Notebook (2004)
How could anyone forget Allie, played by Rachel McAdams, in that flick we can't deny is a heart wrenching one, The Notebook. The pictures says it all, throughout the film Allie graces the screen with her early 1940's flair that are both playful and feminine. When trying to achieve Allie's look, remember that you can't go wrong with polka dots! Bright red lipstick and high waisted clothing items are always a must!
Moulin Rouge (2001)
This movie to me felt much like a wild rollercoaster, my emotions were carried along with it too. I fell in love with Satine who was played by Nicole Kidman and her on screen wardrobe that consisted of many rhinestones, sequins and fringe adornments which are all apart of that classic burlesque look. These elements of Satine and her wardrobe can be incorporated in your own personal style. Think fancy lace or net stockings with garters paired up bustled skirts and noteworthy necklines graced with bold statement making jewelry. Don't forget, Diamonds are a girls best friend.
Moonrise Kingdom (2012)
