How to channel your inner French girl (part 1)

We have a girl crush on all things French: the berets, the scarves, the denim jeans and the food. For those of us not lucky enough to be born in the city of love, we've got the next best thing: how to fake French in 10 easy steps.

Obviously, being French will help…however a nice pair of quality vintage denim will do the trick. A straight leg blue denim pair that is fitted to perfection will get you started on your French journey. Team with a funky belt to add a little extra ooh-la-la to your outfit.

Good jeans can only get you so far. Try a mini monochrome dress: go for a short hemline to lengthen your legs. These are perfect for more formal occasions when jeans might not be appropriate.

French girls are busy; too busy to buy their own things - so they steal them from their lovers. Menswear inspired outfits will give you the effortless chicness that we are dying to have. Pick classic oversized tops that you can layer with ease...think "oh, this old thing”! Knotting the front of the shirt is an easy way to add that feminine touch.

It’s all about the hat! And it’s not just a hat - it’s a beret. We love classic red or black. It really completes the look. Not every outfit calls for a beret, so why not go for a vintage straw hat as an alternative? Think summer picnics and all!

Using the French flag as your style muse works like a treat! Mixing the classic red, white and blue is one of easiest ways to add a French twist to your style. We love using red scarves and men’s ties (how very French) to add a touch of red to the look. And when all else fails, you can always reach for that red lipstick.
