DIY Halloween Platters October 28 2012, 0 Comments

Halloween is nearly here and if you are frantically rushing to get together a few party ideas, here is a quick and easy one!

Plastic platters from party supply stores look cheap but often aren't. Here is an alternative that will cost about the same as the plastic variety but look a lot better. First of all, I picked up a few metal platters from op-shops that cost $3 or less.

The platter above was in great condition but had a personal inscription in the centre that I wanted to get rid of.

This platter had seen better days!

I went to the hardware store and picked up Squirts quick-dry flat enamel (I think it was about $7 and I still have a lot left after spraying 3 pieces with 2 coats each).

Make sure you spread newspaper out to protect the floor. I painted mine in the garage.

Since I used a quick-dry paint, I only had to allow 1 hour between coats.

Here's a look at the finished pieces:

You could use this idea for other parties and events too...birthdays, Christmas, weddings, etc. Colours and metallics would also look great.

Hope you have a spooky Halloween!
