Vegan Choc Mousse

Strapped for dessert ideas yesterday Ela Hawke Vintage posted a pic of the 'Raw Food Choc Mousse' they had just made! It looked amazing and intrigued I googled a recipe.

A little bit doubtful, I knew my sis and two friends would be up for something different.... but will it taste any good?

So here goes:

3 Ripeish Avos

Packet of pitted dates (250g)

Cocoa powder (unsweetened)

Honey

Maple Syrup

Natural Vanilla Essence

First, blend up the avos, a heaped tablespoon of cocoa, honey, a handful of dates and a dash of vanilla and maple until smooth. I have one of those hand-held blenders but any will do! Then, to taste, I added the rest of the dates and other sweet stuff until it tastes great and looks like dark choc (smooth and shiny)! Pop it in the fridge.

Serve a generous dollop in cute dessert bowls, with some berries (or any fruit really) on top. Let your guests sprinkle with chopped pecans (or other nuts) and coconut.

Voila!

Easy, healthy and everyone finished their serve (I had seconds)! It doesn't taste exactly like choc mousse, but for me that's a good thing. I find most mousse too rich. I love dates and maple syrup and those flavours are definitely present, but not overwhelming. It is chocolately and delicious!
