Cocktail Sundays February 08 2013, 0 Comments

There is just something about Sunday Sessions that puts them above all other celebratory days of the week. Whether it be the pink and purple ombre sunsets that can be spied from a rooftop, or the fact that they give me a chance to wear my most spectacular playsuit and sunglasses. They are truly my most favourite part of the week! Here's a little list of my most favourite cocktails I have sampled so far in 2013, and where best to find them in your Sunday travels!

Lady Paradise - Lady Lamington

ladyparadiseSeat yourself upon a retro chair beneath the chandeliered pavilion at Lady Lamington and take in the splendour that is the Lychee paradise cocktail. Pink and girly like Lady Lamington herself, Lady paradise offers a sweet and fizzy start to your Sunday afternoon.

Scorpion Bowl - Alfred & Constance

If you haven't been to Alfred and Constance yet, you are in for a retro flavoured treat! If you have, I know you are already in love with this quirky assemblage of retro themed rooms. My favourite of course being the White Lightning Tiki Bar. The scorpion bowls are self proclaimed as a drink that doesn't shilly shally or mess around in getting you underway. The scorpion bowls are perfect for sharing, serving 2-4 people. My favourite being the Kava bowl, featuring three types of rum, grenadine, fresh pineapple and freshly grated cinnamon. But beware, this drink is not to be taken on lightly!

 Honeydew Melon Pitcher - Stokehouse

Stokehouse is one of my favourite places to go in Brisbane that has a view. Perched on the Southbank side of the river, the open and airy bar space faces out towards the curve of the river. Stokehouse's resident DJs set the scene for a stylish afternoon of cocktails. My favourite being the honey dew melon jug.

Pimms Pitcher - Kettle and Tin

Soak up the sunlight on Kettle and Tin's terrace in Paddington one Sunday, you won't be disappointed! Make sure you accompany yourself with a pimms pitcher.... delish!

Roland's Treacle - Brew Burnett Lane

Tucked down the alleyway in Burnett Lane in the CBD is Brew, the little laneway cafe where you can get a damn good coffee (and some damn good cocktails as I found out). Roland's Treacle is a syrupy delight laced with rum, maple syrup, apple, and Angostura. If you are not much of a sweet tooth, you could always opt for My Aunt Myrtle, a lemony sort filled with limoncello, lemon bitters, and if you haven't got enough yet, fresh lemon.

Vanilla G-String - Oh Hello

Any drink that is served in a Jar is my kind of drink. In between catching Flume's *sigh* set after laneway, I stumbled upon this jar-shaped beauty. I am sure many of you are familiar with Oh Hello and its drinks, due to its penchant for live music and events, however I will proclaim my love for their cocktails nonetheless. There is a lot of love put into these drinks. Not only are their cocktails served in jars, they are complete with striped straws, flamingo swizzle sticks and tropical fruit.
