Where It All Began
Quirky & eclectic fashion label Ra Ra Superstar is a little bit of happiness all rolled into one vintage fabric dress. It all began back in 2005 by stylist Kathy Szwedzinski, who started sewing dresses for fun, using her collection of vintage fabrics. These flew off the racks of her Bondi Beach vintage store. Not long after, when Kathy relocated to Brisbane, the label continued to grow with a thriving stall at the Valley Markets, Finders Keepers and numerous festivals. Kathy was ready for another store and the timing could not be more perfect, as an old dental surgery office located at the end of a laneway was for lease in Paddington. Fast-forward to today and Ra Ra Superstar is a local Paddington institution. The small office has been transformed with a hot pink entryway, a vertical succulent garden, a handmade sign surrounded by a flowery archway entrance. Not to mention the lovely paved courtyard out the back complete with a pink flowering vine (bringing with it a colony of beautiful bees).
Using all recycled and collected materials to create a shop unlike any other, it is a melting pot of creativity. Stocking the full Ra Ra collection of clothing and accessories, local designers, vintage & one-of-a kind goodies, this quirky space has become Ra Ra HQ and creative nerve center. It is where new designs are created, photo shoots take place & all online orders are packed and shipped. The Ra Ra Label and store not only fosters local talent but more importantly works hard to reduce fashion’s footprint on the environment proving that eco fashion can be fun & sexy. Making a difference one cute dress at a time.
